Specialist Music Provision

Music is a flagship strength of the school and is delivered at an outstanding level.

Through structured teaching in listening, composing and performing, pupils become confident, articulate musicians with strong musical literacy. Singing is central to school life and music unites the community through assemblies, concerts and festivals.

Many pupils take private instrumental or vocal lessons at Longwood, further strengthening their technical ability and performance confidence.

By Years 5 and 6, all pupils are working within a secondary school music curriculum. They analyse more complex works, develop secure notation skills and compose with increasing sophistication, giving them a clear advantage as they move on to senior education.
